How gathering works in AION 2
You gather from nodes in the open world. An extraction runs against two gauges, Success and Failure, and the Common skills below push the first up and hold the second down. All six material types feed one Essence Extraction proficiency: as it levels up you earn Common points, which work for every material, and Specialty points, which you spend on one material at a time.
Since NC's October 27 patch a character has to be level 45 to gather (it was level 10), and each server can gather 1,000 times a day. The count resets at 00:00 PDT (08:00 CET), and NC says the cap may change later.
AION 2 gathering levels: Novice and Professional
| Grade | Levels | EXP to the top | Common points | Specialty points (at level) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Novice | 1 to 50 | 2,127 | 45 | 6 (10, 20, 30, 40, 50 (2)) |
| Professional | 1 to 50 | 5,077 | 50 | 8 (10, 20, 30 (2), 40 (2), 50 (2)) |
Almost every level gives one Common point. Every tenth level gives Specialty points: in place of the Common point at Novice 10 to 40, on top of it from Novice 50 on. The planner above uses the full table of all 100 levels.
Common skills
Three skills for every extraction, each with 10 levels. A level costs 1 to 5 points, so one skill at 10 costs 40 points; a Novice can only take each to level 5, which costs 15 per skill.
| Level | Points | Proficient Handling | Delicate Touch | Lady Luck |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | 1 | +5 | -8 | 8% |
| 2 | 2 | +10 | -16 | 12% |
| 3 | 3 | +15 | -24 | 16% |
| 4 | 4 | +20 | -32 | 20% |
| 5 | 5 | +25 | -40 | 24% |
| 6 (Professional) | 5 | +30 | -48 | 27% |
| 7 (Professional) | 5 | +35 | -56 | 30% |
| 8 (Professional) | 5 | +40 | -64 | 33% |
| 9 (Professional) | 5 | +45 | -72 | 36% |
| 10 (Professional) | 5 | +50 | -80 | 40% |
- Proficient Handling: Raises how much the Success Gauge fills on each turn.
- Delicate Touch: Lowers how much the Failure Gauge fills on each turn.
- Lady Luck: A chance for one turn to fill the Success Gauge 2.5 times as much, and from level 6 sometimes 4 times.
Specialty skills for each material
Each material has its own three Specialty skills, at 1 point per level: 7 points to max one material. A Novice can buy the first level of each; the second and third open at the Professional grade.
- Seeker (1 level): Marks the nodes of that material on your minimap.
- Plentiful Harvest (3 levels: 10%, 20%, 30%): A chance that a successful extraction gives double the materials.
- Appraiser (3 levels: 10%, 20%, 30%): A chance that a successful extraction rolls the material's grade again (for cooking ingredients, the amount).
What you can gather
| Type | Materials | Grades |
|---|---|---|
| Ore | Orichalcum Ore | Standard, Fine, Pure and Radiant |
| Gems | Diamond Gemstone; Ruby Gemstone; Sapphire Gemstone | Standard, Fine, Pure and Radiant |
| Logs | Yggdrasil Log (Verteron); Asvata Log (Altgard) | Standard, Fine, Pure and Radiant |
| Herbs | Aria and Targena (Verteron); Azpha and Calendula (Altgard) | regular and Fresh |
| Cooking ingredients | Coriolus, Kukuru and Mela (Verteron); Morfa, Ohkra and Raydam (Altgard) | one grade |
| Odyle | Odyle | Standard, Fine, Pure and Radiant |
Logs, herbs and cooking ingredients differ by faction: Elyos find the Verteron ones and Asmodians the Altgard ones. NC also limits Market listings of gathered materials for some players, based on their play history; see the AION 2 news and patch notes.
How to become a Professional extractor
- Reach Novice 50 in Essence Extraction.
- Take the quest [Upgrade] Essence Extraction Specialty Skill from Korius (Elyos) or Alzirr (Asmodians).
- Gather one Splendent Ruby at a Ruby node and hand it in. Ruby nodes include Verteron Fortress Ruins and Destroyed Abyss Gate in Verteron and Calderon Canyon, Tranein Highland and Nameless Cemetery in Altgard. Seeker for Gems shows gem nodes on your minimap.
Professional opens Common skill levels 6 to 10, Specialty levels 2 and 3, and 50 more proficiency levels with 50 Common and 8 Specialty points.
You cannot learn every gathering skill
A Professional 50 has 95 Common points, but all three Common skills at 10 cost 120. The 14 Specialty points max exactly two materials, out of 6. Decide which materials feed the crafting you do, and put the Specialty points there. The planner shows what is left after each choice. Your proficiency and skills move with you on a server transfer.
Still leveling your character? The AION 2 Gladiator leveling guide and the other leveling guides get you to 45.
How we checked these numbers
NC has not published the Essence Extraction numbers in English. The numbers on this page come from game wikis that read the global game data: the EXP and points of all 100 levels, and the cost and effect of every skill level. Checked on October 22, 2026.
