Is AION 2 free to play?

AION 2 is free to play: no purchase is needed to play. NC's Launch FAQ puts it the same way: free to play with an optional monthly membership.

What the AION 2 Membership costs and unlocks

Price: $15 per month, as listed in NC's business model update of July 8, 2026. NC noted at the time that some details might still change before launch.

What NC says the Membership unlocks:

• Trading on the Market (an active Membership is required)
• The Kina and Quna Exchange between players (an active Membership is required)
• Extra gameplay benefits for members
• A special shop where members can spend Kina

The perk list NC published for the Special Quai Membership on August 21, 2026:

NC listed Personal Trading as a Membership perk on August 21, 2026, but on September 19, 2026 it switched off direct player-to-player trades as an anti-bot measure and named the Market as the place to trade.

When a server is full, NC's queue policy of September 19, 2026 puts members in good standing in a priority queue instead of the general queue. NC calls it a privilege, not a guarantee.

Kina, Quna and the Exchange

The Kina and Quna Exchange is run by players: one player lists Kina, another pays Quna for it. NC says the game itself makes no listings or purchases there. Quna bought this way can be spent on anything sold for Quna.

What the shop sells

• Cosmetics: Outfits, wings, pets, weapon skins and accessories. NC says they give no gameplay or combat advantage.
• Consumables: Items such as potions and resurrection stones. NC says they help in combat but do not affect gear progression or long-term power, and the same items can be earned by playing.

The Battle Pass (Daeva Pass)

Sold per character. The standard track is open to every player; the premium track is optional and bought with Quna. Rewards mix cosmetics, items, upgrade materials and other in-game currencies.

Is AION 2 pay to win?

That is a judgment call, so here are the facts from NC to judge by. Shop cosmetics give no gameplay advantage, and shop consumables can also be earned by playing. Battle Pass rewards include upgrade materials and currencies, and its premium track, bought with Quna, adds bonus rewards. And because the Exchange lets players sell Kina for Quna, money can turn into Kina, but only through other players and only with a Membership.

Founder's Packs

Since an update announced on October 3, 2026, the cosmetics from a Founder's Pack can be used on every character on the account, on any server. The 30-day Membership and the two chests stay one-time rewards.

What does the AION 2 Membership unlock?

Trading on the Market and the Kina and Quna Exchange, which both need an active Membership, plus extra gameplay benefits and a members-only shop that takes Kina. The perk list NC published also names Remote Storage and a higher Odyle Energy cap.

Can you play AION 2 without the Membership?

Yes. Everything needed to play is free. Without a Membership you cannot trade on the Market or use the Kina and Quna Exchange.

Is AION 2 pay to win?

NC says shop cosmetics give no gameplay or combat advantage and that shop consumables can also be earned by playing. On the other hand, the Battle Pass includes upgrade materials, and Quna bought with money can be traded for Kina through the player-run Exchange. Whether that counts as pay to win is up to you; those are NC's stated rules.

Did the Founder’s Pack include a Membership?

Yes. Every Founder’s Pack includes a 30-day Membership. It is a one-time reward and does not carry over to other characters the way the pack cosmetics now do.
