How to level a Templar: skills and Stigmas
- Level 1: Vicious Strike and Pummel first. Put your first skill points into Vicious Strike and Pummel, your two mouse-button attacks, and raise them as far as your level allows.
- Level 8: Then Poach and Warding Strike. Next bring Poach and Warding Strike up to level 8. At skill level 8, take the Poach pick that resets its cooldown when you defeat an enemy: pull, kill, pull the next one.
- Level 14: Raise Punishment early. Punishment unlocks at 14 and is the hardest early hit. Start putting points into it right away and open tougher monsters with a charged Punishment.
- Level 19: Mana picks at skill level 8. Mana is tight early. When Vicious Strike and Pummel reach skill level 8, take +20% MP restored on Vicious Strike and -20% MP consumed on Pummel.
- Level 21: Fury: all ten levels at once. The Fury passive has no level gate, so you can buy all ten levels the moment it unlocks. It is the party buff and the first passive to take.
- Level 22: Stigmas: Doom Shield and Battlefield Banner. Fill the first Stigma slots with Doom Shield and Battlefield Banner. Add Taunt once you tank dungeons; you need it to hold bosses.
At 45 your core is Judgment, Vicious Strike, Pummel and Punishment: feed them first on the Daevanion boards and with skill points.
How to fight while leveling
- Hold your basic attack, Vicious Strike, between skills; it is what refills your mana.
- Chain Judgment and Debilitating Smash in the in-game macro with a 10 ms delay between them.
- Keep Poach and other gap-closers on their own keys, out of the macro, so they do not pull you away from the fight.

The route every class follows to 45
- Level 1: Follow the main story. The main story quests give most of the experience you need to reach level 45. Do side quests only when they sit on your way, and do not stop to farm ordinary monsters.
- Level 1: Pick up feathers on the way. Empyrean Trace feathers turn in at a Monolith for upgrades to your Revelation Amulet, which you keep for good. Grab the ones on your route; coming back for them later costs far more time.
- Level 10: Clear Sealed Dungeons once. Sealed Dungeons start to show up from around level 10. The first clear of each one gives skill points and Daevanion materials, so clear the ones on your route.
- Level 12: First Daevanion board: Nezekan. The Daevanion boards open with Nezekan (Combat Speed and Cooldown Reduction). Some nodes add a level to a skill; your class steps say which skills to feed first.
- Level 20: Second board: Zikel. Zikel adds Damage Boost and Damage Tolerance. Keep the same skill priority as on Nezekan.
- Level 22: First Stigma slot. Stigma skills open at level 22 and the first slot opens with them. More slots follow at 27, 32 and 37, four in all, so fill each one as it opens.
- Level 30: Third board: Vaizel. Vaizel adds Critical Damage Boost and Critical Damage Tolerance.
- Level 40: Fourth board: Triniel. Triniel adds Multi-Hit Chance and Multi-Hit Resist.
- Level 45: Level 45: the global cap. A fifth board, Azphel, opens at 45 with PvP stats only. For your first endgame dungeons such as Krao Cave, aim for about 1,000 gear score. NC's October 20 patch added a sixth board, Ariel, filled with Ariel Fragments from the Hard mode of Krao Cave and Draupnir, which needs item level 2600.
Enhance to +10, not past it. Taking your weapon to about +10 is the biggest damage gain while leveling. Going further on gear you will replace soon wastes Enhancement Stones; save that for gear you keep.
Once you hit 45. Spend your Odyle Energy on dungeon rewards and use your Nightmare attempts every day, and finish the story and Ascension quests you skipped.
Pets add stats for every character on your account. Our AION 2 pet farming guide shows how many Souls each pet takes and where to farm them.
Daily limits such as dungeon entries refill at the daily reset. The AION 2 timers page counts down to it, to the weekly reset and to the next Spacetime Rift. From around level 10 you can also join the AION 2 Shugo Festival, a round of minigames every hour on the hour.
Field bosses are level 45 and up. The AION 2 world boss timer lists each one with its respawn time and counts down to its return after a kill.
At 45 you have more skills than Skill Points to max them. The AION 2 skill builder counts the points for any Templar build and shows which Stigmas level-45 Templars use, and the AION 2 Templar build shows where the points go once you get there.
Other ways to level
The second Pummel pick at skill level 8 can be less mana cost, an HP drain, or more damage when fewer targets are hit. While leveling, the mana pick is the safe one.
